R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company (RJRT), an operating company of Reynolds American Inc., is the second-largest tobacco company in the United States. The company manufactures and markets tobacco products for adult tobacco consumers.
R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company was founded in 1875 in the town of Winston, N.C, now known as Winston-Salem, where the company is still headquartered today. In 2017, Reynolds American Inc. and its affiliates became independent U.S. subsidiaries of the global British American Tobacco Group (BAT), headquartered in London, UK.

The company makes many of the nation’s best-selling cigarette brands, including Newport, Camel, Pall Mall and Lucky Strike. RJRT also distributes Camel Snus, a modern, smoke-free tobacco product, and Eclipse, a product that primarily heats rather than burns tobacco.

RJRT’s largest plant – the Reynolds Operations Center (ROC), an approximately 2 million-square-foot facility constructed in 1986 – is located in the town of Tobaccoville, near Winston-Salem.
